Today Julia and I were joined by my mother and brother and his girlfriend to take a look at puppies. The breeder, Gretchen Boss, owner of Breckin Labradors, let us take a look and I think we’ve made a selection. The fattest yellow girl will almost certainly be our new dog. Here are some photos of her and the rest of the puppies. As always, click “there’s more to…” to see all the photos, or visit my SmugMug.

Here she is.

Talk about late to the party…
Julia and I have been married for nearly a month now and I’m just getting around to posting photos from Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, our wedding, and our post-wedding beach bash.
For now, I’m just going to post photos, since they are ready to go. I think Julia will do a more comprehensive post of what actually went on sometime this week.
First of all, it’s probably easiest to just follow these links to my SmugMug see galleries of photos:

And here are some random other shots:

Today, I went down to the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ to pick up Data at the Big Apple Sporting Society show. A month ago, we dropped Data off with Kathryn Mines, a professional handler. With her, he has won four points, including a three-point major. (More information on the structure of dog shows can be found here.) He didn’t win today, but we were thrilled to have him back after the show. I stayed out of sight and scent until he was finished in the ring, so when he did see me, he was beyond thrilled, snorting and running around in circles.
On my way home, I passed a pretty nasty accident involving three cars, one of which was in the process of being devoured by flames.
Since arriving home, Julia watched the final episode of Six Feet Under (one of the greatest shows of all time in my opinion) and is now watching The Empire Strikes Back for the first time (unbelievable, I know). Data is settling back into his favorite seat on the yellow chair and all seems to be well in the world.
Here are some photos from the day. Click “there’s more to…” to see them all, or visit my SmugMug.

Julia’s promised Toronto post is (I’m told) mostly completed, so maybe that will happen before 2009.
Meanwhile, we brought Data to a nearby beach where he went swimming (voluntarily) for the first time way back in the day.

Julia has promised me she is going to post details of our three-night visit to Toronto, so I am just going to post a few photos. We didn’t do a lot of sightseeing, mostly we just relaxed, so I didn’t take a whole lot of photos.

Time for some random photos. The first is one Julia took of Jenn on Halloween. The others are from the newly-reopened Spencer’s Run dog park at Waveny Park. Data has been back a few times since it was made public again on November 1, which is great for him. I’m still not sure who had the brilliant idea to re-seed a dog park in the first place, let alone in October, but whatever.

45-minute train ride from Darien to New Haven at 9 a.m.: $8
15-minute 3/4-mile walk from station to Ikea: Free
Ikea being sold out of the $12 stools that would be perfect speaker stands, with no new shipment for a month or more, leaving me to walk back to the train station to catch another train with nothing to show for it having wasted three hours of my day: Priceless
Also, I think I got hit on by a middle-aged woman today. I was walking through the Costco parking lot and she approached me and said “do you have a bad back?” To which I replied “um no.” She asked me to help her put four big crates of water bottles into her car, which I did. As I finished putting the last one in, she said “now I just need to get you to come home with me” and gave me a look. Needless to say, I just said “you’re welcome, have a nice day” and left.
Finally, here are some photos from the other day.

After work last night, Julia and I came to Suffield and decided to take Data for a nice hike up the mountain. The foliage is really kicking in and the weather was beautiful. Of course, I took some photos. Click “there’s more to…” to see them all or visit my SmugMug.
