Hitting The Ground Running

Tonight’s post will be rather quick, as I’m quite tired and tomorrow is another long day.

I “officially” started my internships this week, and I already feel as though I have PLENTY of work to do. I am interning at Friendship Ambassadors Foundation on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and will be at Student World Assembly Tuesday and Thursday. After only 3 days of work I find that the schedule is quite demanding and it has been hard to be thrown into a full-time schedule after having very few obligations for almost 7 months. However, I am already finding the work quite rewarding. When I have more time, possibly tomorrow, I will go into more depth in explaining what I’m doing in the two positions (I hope it doesn’t bore all you readers out there!), but all I will say for now is that I am basically busy from the time I get to work until the time I leave. I haven’t been getting nearly enough sleep, and therefore it’s been really difficult to get started each morning. Even though I have to be at the train station at an early 8:15am, taking the Metro to NYC is actually somewhat therapeutic – I get to drink tea, listen to my ipod, and read a bit to wake-up my brain before I reach Grand Central 50 minutes later.

I am not working on Friday, so tomorrow I will take the train from Grand Central all the way to New Haven, and then I will take Amtrak to Hartford where Brett and I will get dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. It will be a really lovely way to start the weekend, which I will be spending at Brett’s house in West Suffield. I’m looking forward to catching up on the sleep I lost during this exciting week!

Getting Started

This is just a quick post to welcome you to our new home. Our road trip blog can easily be found at roadtrip.brettmickelson.com and is not going anywhere. This new blog will be under construction for a few days while we work out the bugs associated with updated blogging software, but be sure to bookmark us or add us to your RSS feeds, as we will be posting here regularly.

Meanwhile, here are a few photos I took today.
