Yesterday I completed my first full week of work for the Danbury News-Times.
In short, what I do is graphic design. I lay out pages, create headlines and edit stories, for the most part. As time goes by, I may be able to get into designing special sections and page elements and take some photos as well. I work from 4 p.m. to midnight; standard newspaper hours. My co-workers are all nice and I feel comfortable there already. It seems like I will have a good amount of creative freedom and everyone has been supportive of what little I’ve done there so far.
Danbury is a terrible drive from West Suffield, but it’s a very easy backroads drive from Julia’s house, so we are going to be moving in together in that area as soon as we can.
Here are a few pages I put together last night. The first one ran today and features a photo spread about the New Milford High School junior prom. The second one is a feature on a new exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History called “The Horse”.
